Testimonials about Machine
At Machine Aquatics we are confident in the amazing, nurturing and safe environment we provide. We also feel it is important for potential new families to Machine to hear from existing families how their experience with Machine has been.
Below are some comments regarding Machine that have been provided by Machine Parents.
It has been amazing to watch Jacob swim this fall. I can see the difference a 2nd year, good coaching, 6 days, and dedication makes. He finally has endurance. I am so thankful for the coaching you both give him. Do you remember when he first joined the team last year? It is crazy to see the difference in one year!! Thank you! How many coaches would take the time to help a 14 year old learn technique. I know other swim clubs would not have even noticed him put in him the water and just let him swim laps. I am so thankful for the time you give all of your swimmers not just mine. It is always a joy to watch you both coach on meet days.
I just wanted to say how much my daughter, Catherine, has enjoyed her time with Machine this year. She came to Machine after a shaky year with XXXX. Coming to Machine has made such a difference in her life. Rick and Sue and all the other coaches at the UMD site have given her the individualized attention and created a level of group enthusiasm that have made all the difference to Cath.
What I appreciate about Machine is that even kids who will not break world records are taught to work hard and achieve to their best ability. Really, that is what is going to get them ahead in life. It is such an important skill and message.
Bravo for hiring such inspiring and dedicated coaches. They make all the difference to our swimmers.

Dan and Paris,
We wanted to pass along a huge thank you for all of your work, coordination and support for the swimmers at NCSA’s last week. XXXXXX had an amazing experience, a wonderful time with all his friends and coaches, and some great swim times as well. We credit all of this to your unending support to him, both in and out of the water. He is truly maturing into a goal-oriented young man and we thank you for your role in this and for helping him set and achieve goals in the water but that carry over into other areas of his life as well.
There has not been a day that has passed since he came onboard with the Machine Family (last April) that he or we have not felt blessed with so many things that he’s gained by being a part of Dan’s coaching and group!
We hope that you had a wonderful trip as well and we look forward to the years ahead!
Before too much time passes, I meant to thank you in person and share some positive feedback. I thought the Machine coach coverage at LC Age Group Champs was the best I have ever seen. Your presence at every session meant a lot, and your swimmers performed well. Congratulations! The rest of the coaches at the 11-14 session provided excellent support and feedback too. The ratio of coach to swimmer was wonderful and did not go unnoticed. I know you must be exhausted, and Paris is very happy to have you home, but the Machine coach teamwork has long term benefits.
Take care, Tara
Hi Paris and Dan
I just wanted to tell you how impressed I am with the summer long course program.
It totally is worth it! It solves the problem of XXX losing all the stroke mechanics she learned all year during the summer.
Summer swim with the neighborhood pool is lots of Fun but Fast and Furious.
Long course is a perfect supplement to it.
Danny and Rod are Great!
Too often in life, people are quick to share negative feedback, but not as often do we get the positive feedback. We wanted to write with some positive feedback and say thank you. We wanted to let you know how much we appreciate your willingness to work with our family and make our kids part of the Machine team.
This past weekend, XXXX, XXX and XXXX swam a total of 21 individual events (yes we sat through all 7 sessions!). They swam personal bests in 20 of the 21 events. That says a lot about the positive impact your coaching staff has had on our family.
This was our first meet encountering former team parents and everyone wanted to know why we changed teams and why Machine. We explained our reasons and then pointed out the 6-8 Machine coaches on the bulk head (you can't miss them in the neon orange shirts!), talking to swimmers before and after every event, cheering every kid on (whether in the fastest heat or the slowest heat), helping focus with physical and mental preparation, and most importantly to us, encouraging fun. XXX pointed out that Machine is so much better because Coach Megan tells him really good things, like long arms and strong kick, and that helps make him a winner. Your staff speaks for itself.
The best part of the meet for us was seeing our kids having fun and loving to swim again. Noah was skipping and jumping around after every event. The girls were enjoying cheering for their teammates. Smiles were on everyones' faces. That is what is all about for us.
Change is always hard and scary, but this change has been worth it and our kids have finally settled in and see the pay off of the change. Thanks for helping make the change happen.

This is our family’s third year with Machine Aquatics and we have found our permanent swim home! Before becoming part of Machine, our two children were members of another area swim team for one year. The other team did not provide our children with personal attention and they felt that they were just a number. The other team’s coaches would give them sets to do in practice and then talk to each other the entire practice instead of giving the kids help that would improve their swimming. At meets, our kids would often participate on relays with kids they did not know, the coaches did not consistently watch their races, and they did not talk to them after their races for immediate feedback. We worked many meets on their behalf and there was never any appreciation expressed for our efforts. Our kids were frustrated and were ready to give up swimming, and then we found Machine Aquatics :)
Our kids felt an instant connection with their coaches at Machine from the very first practice. They feel like they are really part of the team and have bonded with their fellow swimmers. They look forward to their practices and meets, and strive to achieve their goals with their coach’s direction. As parents, we feel that the nurturing environment that the Machine coaches provide the swimmers feeds their souls, as well as their bodies. The coaches communicate with the kids so that they understand what is expected of them and how to improve to become better swimmers. We enjoy spending time with the other parents at the meets, both home and away! Machine also appreciates the volunteers who help run the meet – there are always appreciative words after the meet by the coaches, which is not the case with other teams. We love Machine and look forward to many more years with the team!

Dan and Paris:
I just wanted to send you a quick note to compliment you and your organization and the quality of your staff. This is the first year that my kids have been swimming with Machine and their first year doing competitive winter swim in PVS. My daughter, XXXXX, LOVES the program and the improvements she has made this year have been really amazing. Brad, Brittany and Hans have provided her with great coaching and got her really close to the JO cut in 50 free in her first season in PVS. She is really enjoying swimming and has great things to say about all of her coaches.
My son XXXX has seen tremendous improvements as well, and while he complains about going to practice, he told me that he wants to do Machine summer program even if it means getting up to go to Westwood at 430 in the morning so that he does not loose any of the speed improvements he has made over the winter season.
I am a 2nd year triathlete with no competitive swimming background and a slow swim split. I decided to check out your Masters program and have been doing it since October. Josh's coaching has been great, and I have been fortunate to share a lane with Hope every Tuesday and Thursday. Brad has been supportive as well and lets me swim on Saturdays when my kids train with him. The result of training with Josh and Hope has been awesome. I dropped 2:09 on my 750m open water swim split from my final race of last season and my first open water race of this season.
Your program came highly recomended by several families that we know, but it has been better than I expected. Your coaching staff is really great, and we look forward to continuing with the Machine program.
Hi Dan and Paris,
We continue to be totally pleased with Machine coaches and practices, but Josh’s work today with Megan bears special mention.
XXXXX has had some trouble with the breaststroke kick for some time. Today Josh pulled her aside, moved her into a separate lane, and coached her for 10 -15 minutes as she mastered the kick and cleaned it up with some extra guidance. She is thrilled. She just couldn’t master it and it had been a source of some frustration for a while, but now she ‘gets it’ and could not be more pleased with herself.
Thanks for making her feel so successful!
WE LOVE MACHINE!!
Our daughter has been in various swim programs since she was 6 months old. We have done one on one programs, group programs, you name it, we've tried it. With Machine Aquatics we've found the perfect combination for our daughter and our family. Our daughter looks forward to practice. The coaching staff have the perfect mix of instruction with fun and provide all the right support to build her confidence and motivation to set stretch goals.
Machine has also given us, as swim parents, a connection to a broader swim family. We don't feel like a parent of a swimmer in lane 1, we truly feel a connection to the organization. Coaches are available to answer questions and provide feedback about your swimmer, but more importantly, you can be confident they are in good hands as they continue their development in the sport. The commitment Paris and Dan have to nurturing that culture while at the same time providing the highest quality program
is tangible. Just look around the pool deck and you can see the smiles and camaraderie among the athletes and even the volunteers.
Equally important is the attention Machine pays to each individual athlete. Machine doesn't push too hard just for the sake of rankings or other measures. Machine puts the athlete first. As parents, we feel very supported by the Machine team in ensuring our daughter has an age and skill appropriate development program AND has a great experience. We look forward to being a part of the Machine family for a very long time.
Marwan and Cathy Nabulsi (parents of 10 year old swimmer)
Our children have been swimming for Machine Aquatics since their “micro-machine” days. The coaching is by far the best in the area. Not only are they technically skilled, but they have always treated our children as if they are part of the family. Machine Aquatics has guided us from our first mini-meet through collegiate swimming. We are so loyal to Machine Aquatics that our oldest is now coaching for them! Talk about coming full circle!
Thank you so much for getting back to me. I just have to tell you how much ____ loves being part of Machine. He is a quiet guy who is introverted and not always the most confident kid, but his experience with Machine has been phenomenal for building his self-esteem . In particular, Lynnanne and Hans have given him so much support this season and as a matter of fact, Noah shocked himself recently when he (very nervously) participated in his first ever 100 IM at the March Madness meet and came in first in his heat! The look on his face as reached the wall and had to turn and wait for all the other swimmers to finish was priceless!
Thank you for providing such an amazing swim training experience.
Hi Paris - thanks for arranging that try-out. ___ really enjoyed the group and the coaching was really phenomenal!! BIG improvement over what she's getting right now! It was great to see the coaches in the water with the kids critiquing strokes and correcting them. We're definitely sold!!
Hi, Grady - I just wanted to let you know that _____ is jumping up and down from joy every time she thinks about your practices, comes home with the words: "I knew that I missed Grady, but I didn't realized that I missed him that much - he is the best coach everrrrrrr!!!!!!" and so on:) From what I hear from _______, the same goes for_____ and _____ and other 3 families in our massive carpool! Thank you so much for being there for our kids, we really appreciate you working with us on choosing the program and making everybody so happy! Anya
