I’m Daniel Gyenis, a Developmental Coach with Machine Aquatics, entering my second season with the team. I bring eight years of coaching experience at the club, high school, and NVSL levels, and I’m passionate about combining technical knowledge with motivational leadership on the pool deck.

As a swimmer, I competed for Oakton High School, where I was a state champion and record holder. I continued my swimming career at the University of Virginia, where I was a three-time ACC scorer and twice named to the All-ACC Academic Team. I also hold team records at Machine Aquatics from my own time as a swimmer.

I graduated from UVA with a degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Business. After college, I worked as an environmental scientist while coaching part-time with Machine.

My coaching philosophy centers around teaching swimmers to move more efficiently in the water. I focus on positive reinforcement and bring high energy and enthusiasm to every practice to help athletes stay motivated and confident in their development.

Outside the pool, I enjoy playing basketball, cooking, and spending time outdoors—especially hiking with my dog, Roscoe.
